Requirements

  • Follow one of two experience paths: founder, co-founder, or founding engineer who owned a product end to end; or private equity, growth equity, credit investing, or strategic finance followed by an early fintech operator role building a business line.
  • Have taken a consumer product from zero to one.
  • Have consumer fintech experience in lending, payments, cash advance, banking, cards, or a similar area.
  • Have worked inside a bank or lending partnership program.
  • Prototype before or alongside writing a concise explanation of the product.
  • Pull your own numbers using SQL and product analytics.
  • Use AI agents heavily and hold their output to a high bar.
  • Bonus: have recently shipped production code in TypeScript, React, or similar; AI-assisted work counts.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype candidate verticals in sandbox environments and test them with real customers.
  • Model CAC payback, loss rates, and margin for candidate verticals.
  • Recommend a vertical to the founders and present supporting evidence.
  • Work with legal and compliance to design a product version with fewer licenses and obligations.
  • Reuse Kovo's identity, payments, credit reporting, and customer-base capabilities where possible.
  • Build and ship the first version, including customer flows, integrations, events, and experiments.
  • Partner with backend engineering on the ledger, money movement, and other work involving funds.
  • Own the vertical's conversion, losses, payback, and retention metrics.
  • Own the technical side of partner and vendor integrations and design a cross-sell offer with the credit builder vertical.
