Requirements
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and C++, including building and supporting production-grade applications.
- Knowledge of software architecture, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
- Experience making technical decisions and delivering development projects independently.
- Practical experience with automated unit and integration testing, and familiarity with Test-Driven Development.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows, including code reviews.
- Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into practical, scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills, with attention to reliability, performance, and usability.
- Experience mentoring developers, providing technical guidance, and sharing knowledge.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Availability to work Montreal business hours (Eastern Time), including seasonal daylight-saving time adjustments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain tools and systems that streamline workflows, automate tasks, and connect applications across visual effects production pipelines.
- Build reliable, maintainable software solutions using Python, C++, and appropriate development frameworks.
- Design scalable software architectures using appropriate design patterns and sound engineering principles.
- Own technical decisions and development projects, breaking work into tasks and identifying effort, dependencies, and risks.
- Write and review code, promote consistent practices and automated testing, and investigate defects and integration challenges.
- Improve application reliability, performance, and usability through technical refinement.
- Collaborate with developers, technical directors, artists, production teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to developers and maintain documentation that supports adoption and continuity.
