Requirements
- Have at least 8 years of professional software development experience.
- Bring deep expertise in backend engineering and API development.
- Have previous flight travel domain experience, such as at an OTA, airline, GDS provider, distributor, or flight booking platform.
- Understand the end-to-end flight booking lifecycle, including search, booking, and post-booking servicing.
- Have hands-on experience with New Distribution Capability (NDC).
- Have practical, recent experience developing with Python in production environments.
- Have strong API design skills and the ability to build scalable, reliable services for complex integrations.
- Have experience with distributed systems, caching, and high-volume backend workloads.
- Be comfortable working remotely from Europe and collaborating across European time zones.
- Work independently, make sound technical decisions, and deliver results in an environment with limited process and evolving requirements.
- Bring a hands-on individual-contributor mindset, with a preference for technical ownership over people management.
Responsibilities
- Scale and evolve the existing flight product into reliable, flexible infrastructure.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for flight search, booking, and post-booking functionality.
- Make technical decisions involving API architecture, caching strategies, data models, performance, and system reliability.
- Develop caching approaches for flight offers that balance speed, cost, price accuracy, and availability freshness.
- Build and improve booking servicing for changes, cancellations, refunds, and other post-booking operations across airlines and suppliers.
- Support NDC and offer-and-order-based retailing while integrating with existing GDS workflows.
- Design scalable APIs for partners including fintechs, travel platforms, and super-apps.
- Deliver technical solutions and improvements directly into production.
- Contribute to the performance, scalability, and resilience of high-traffic systems.
