Requirements
- Bring hands-on depth in the warehouse and pipeline layer.
- Have credible experience keeping a BI tool healthy at company scale.
- Have credible experience maintaining an event-tracking plan at company scale.
- Write SQL, debug Airflow DAGs, and configure permissions hands-on.
- Have experience being accountable for other people's output, priorities, and time allocation.
- Use AI tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or ChatGPT in daily work.
- Build automation and monitoring rather than relying on recurring manual checks.
- Translate stakeholder needs into a prioritized plan and roadmap.
- Enforce standards across engineers and analysts, including colleagues who do not report to you.
- Work with Redshift, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Segment, and BI tools; Lightdash is primary, with Tableau and Metabase being phased out.
Responsibilities
- Discover data needs across product, marketing, operations, and finance; prioritize and maintain the data roadmap.
- Build automated quality and freshness monitoring across source data, pipelines, and reports, and resolve incidents.
- Map data lineage from production sources through warehouse models to dashboards, and assess downstream impact before changes ship.
- Administer the Lightdash migration, including workspace structure, permissions, certification, enablement, query performance, and warehouse costs.
- Extend and maintain governed metric definitions in the semantic layer.
- Govern Segment event tracking by reviewing events, maintaining the catalog and property dictionary, and detecting drift.
- Make warehouse data documented, consistent, and safe for AI agents and tools to query.
- Manage data access controls, PII handling, retention, and periodic access reviews.
- Create documentation, ownership models, and review loops for the governance system.
- Start as an individual contributor and later hire and manage a Lead Analytics Engineer.
