Requirements
- Provide a portfolio of polished product work demonstrating strong visual craft, interaction design, and end-to-end ownership.
- Have experience designing dashboards or other data-rich products and presenting complex information clearly.
- Demonstrate judgment and independence to lead design, make recommendations grounded in experience, and earn founders' trust.
- Show a track record of moving from ambiguity to shipped work in a fast-moving environment.
- Be fluent with Figma and willing to adopt AI and other tools that improve design iteration.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively, explain design decisions, incorporate direct feedback, and help engineers execute designs.
- Be comfortable supporting multiple engineers and product workstreams without becoming a bottleneck.
- Be able to work Echelon's hours and collaborate closely with the team.
Responsibilities
- Lead product design from an ambiguous problem through exploration, interaction design, visual design, and implementation with engineering.
- Design dashboards and workflows that make complex data, relationships, evidence, and recommendations easy to understand and act on.
- Set coherent visual and interaction standards and create reusable patterns for engineers.
- Use Figma, AI tools, and prototypes to test options, gather feedback, and keep engineering moving.
- Work with founders and engineers to challenge assumptions, explain design tradeoffs, and make design decisions.
- Partner with engineers through delivery and refine the shipped product.
- Bring designs to life in code with AI-assisted tools where useful and collaborate on production quality.
