Requirements
- Have 2–5 years of experience in AML, transaction monitoring, or financial-crimes compliance within a cryptocurrency exchange, fintech, or traditional financial institution.
- Understand blockchain technology, digital assets, and AML risks in the crypto ecosystem.
- Understand BSA/AML regulations, OFAC sanctions, and FinCEN guidance regarding virtual currency.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex financial data and connect information across platforms.
- Be able to write clear, concise investigative narratives.
- Have hands-on experience with blockchain analytics tools and traditional fiat transaction-monitoring vendors.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced, 100% remote startup environment.
- CAMS, CGSS, or crypto-specific certifications such as CCAS or Chainalysis Reactor Certification are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Review and disposition daily fiat and crypto transaction-monitoring alerts to identify unusual or suspicious activity.
- Investigate complex user accounts and blockchain transactions.
- Draft investigative narratives and prepare and file Suspicious Activity Reports with appropriate regulatory bodies, such as FinCEN.
- Use on-chain analytics tools to trace cryptocurrency flows, identify high-risk wallet interactions, and assess illicit-finance risks.
- Assist with escalated KYC/KYB reviews, Enhanced Due Diligence, and OFAC sanctions screening.
- Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer and compliance engineering to refine transaction-monitoring rules and minimize false positives while capturing actual risks.
- Work with customer support, engineering, and product teams to integrate compliance controls into the Alpaca API ecosystem.
