Requirements
- Have 8+ years of experience building backend systems.
- Bring deep expertise in Python and modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Have strong database fundamentals, including PostgreSQL, SQL, schema design, migrations, and ORMs.
- Have experience building production-grade APIs.
- Have hands-on cloud infrastructure experience; AWS is preferred.
- Have experience across the delivery lifecycle, including CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, and incidents.
- Payments, fintech, or financial services experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with payment rails and flows such as SEPA, ACH, wires, Faster Payments, CHAPS, and Bacs is a plus.
- Familiarity with payment messaging and file formats such as PAIN and CAMT is a plus.
- Be able to work with evolving requirements and design systems that scale while remaining pragmatic.
- Have C1+ English and be able to collaborate across time zones.
- Experience building bank integrations using H2H, SFTP, or ISO 20022 is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end execution for backend systems and infrastructure.
- Provision secure host-to-host bank connections, including SFTP endpoint setup and SSH and PGP key exchange and rotations.
- Implement and validate payment and data pipelines, including ISO 20022 parsing and validation, penny tests, reconciliation, and production readiness.
- Lead banking and enterprise integration projects by defining scope, designing the integration approach, and driving delivery for domestic and international payment flows.
- Build and maintain customer-facing integrations with third-party platforms, including AP/AR tools, billing, CRM, payroll, and data warehouses.
- Debug connectivity, payment, and statement issues using logs, monitoring and observability tools, file payloads, and database records.
- Automate onboarding and integration playbooks, standardize test frameworks, and build maintainable backend tooling to improve pipeline reliability and scale.
