Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or site reliability engineering, including several years owning production systems at a senior level.
- Have led multi-month infrastructure programs end to end, from design documents and stakeholder alignment through phased rollout, cutover, and cleanup.
- Have deep, hands-on production Kubernetes experience, ideally with a managed offering such as AKS, EKS, or GKE, including networking and network policy.
- Have strong Terraform skills on a large codebase and experience with GitOps-style workflows such as Atlantis or ArgoCD.
- Have production experience with at least one major cloud; Azure is preferred, and deep AWS or GCP experience is also suitable with willingness to go deep on Azure.
- Have production experience operating relational or analytical databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or ClickHouse, including replication, upgrades, and recovery.
- Apply least privilege, identity-based access, secrets management, and network isolation in your security practices.
- Have a solid observability practice covering metrics, logs, traces, trusted alerting, and SLO thinking; OpenTelemetry experience is preferred.
- Be comfortable writing Python and shell for automation and tooling.
- Write clearly for design documents, pull requests, and asynchronous threads across time zones.
Responsibilities
- Run and evolve AKS clusters for production, workflow, and AI/agent workloads using Karpenter, Cilium network policy, workload identity, External Secrets, Helm, and ArgoCD.
- Drive the Terraform estate through Atlantis, including provider upgrades, drift reconciliation, module design, guardrails, GitHub Actions runners, and build pipelines.
- Operate MySQL Flexible Server and self-managed ClickHouse, focusing on replication, failover, backup and restore, capacity planning, and safe upgrades.
- Design isolated, auditable environments for agentic workloads and MCP services, including egress controls, identity, observability, and a self-service deployment path for internal apps.
- Evolve the observability stack using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Tempo, and maintain alert rules in code.
- Identify and implement Azure cost savings.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, lead incident response and blameless postmortems, and support data engineering, data science, and product teams.
- Write design documents, review code, mentor engineers, and document systems.
