Requirements
- At least five years of professional software development experience, including senior-level ownership of production systems.
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills across frontend and backend development.
- Production experience with React and/or Svelte/SvelteKit.
- Backend development experience with Node.js using Express, Fastify, or comparable frameworks.
- Hands-on Shopify development experience, including applications, themes, and/or API integrations.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and modern data-access tools such as Prisma or Drizzle.
- Ability to build and integrate REST and GraphQL APIs.
- Ability to take over unfamiliar codebases independently, diagnose complex issues, and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong communication skills, including explaining architectural choices and technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working with high-volume, business-critical e-commerce and retail data.
- Fluency in English for daily collaboration.
- Experience with Shopify Polaris, App Bridge, PHP, Laravel, NetSuite SuiteScript, ERP integrations, search technologies, Akeneo, automated testing, or Python is an additional asset.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Shopify storefronts, custom applications, point-of-sale extensions, user interface extensions, and Shopify Functions.
- Build and support internal web applications for product appraisal, pricing, event management, and retail operations.
- Design, implement, and maintain integrations between Shopify, Oracle NetSuite, product catalogues, search infrastructure, and other business systems.
- Create and maintain data pipelines and utilities for pricing, inventory, and product catalogue information.
- Take ownership of applications developed by external agencies and contractors, assess their architecture, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Investigate unfamiliar codebases, troubleshoot production incidents, and implement maintainable solutions.
- Audit, document, consolidate, and modernize existing applications and integrations.
- Make architectural and implementation decisions that balance performance, maintainability, technical complexity, and business priorities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
- Establish standards for software development, testing, documentation, deployment, and code quality.
