Requirements
- Have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Have experience with backend languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Have a track record of developing highly available distributed systems.
- Have experience with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Have experience supporting scale-up and scale-down for large sales events.
- Have tuned autoscaling, CPU and memory, and multithreading for compute workloads.
- Have experience defining a technical plan for a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
- Write high-quality code that is understandable and usable by others.
- Be proficient at making significant changes in a large codebase and have tools and practices to do so safely.
- Have equivalent practical experience or a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team.
- Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and support them throughout delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and technical decision-making.
- Identify and lead the resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues, and support operational availability and on-call efforts.
- Set or improve code review and design standards, and advocate for them through writing and tech talks.
- Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent on the team.
