Requirements
- Have 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
- Have experience using backend languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Have a track record developing highly available distributed systems.
- Have experience with technologies such as AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
- Be able to define a technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component.
- Design systems that are elegant, simple and extensible.
- Write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
- Be proficient at making significant changes in a large codebase.
- Have developed tools and practices that enable safe changes to a large codebase.
- Have a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team.
- Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and support them throughout delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design and analytics during ideation, and articulate technical constraints and risks.
- Identify project, process, technology or business issues and lead efforts to resolve them.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate operational issues, and support availability, on-call and keep-the-lights-on efforts.
- Set or improve code review and design standards, and advocate for them through writing and tech talks.
- Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent on the team.
