Requirements
- Have a solid understanding of core IT concepts.
- Have working knowledge of IT infrastructure and IT service management.
- Be able to solve problems and connect details to the wider picture.
- Be able to work independently, take ownership, build, operate, continuously improve, and deliver.
- Be able to go beyond tools and deliver outcomes through innovation and scripting or development where needed.
- Cyber security and/or risk management experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience with the Microsoft Defender stack and Microsoft Sentinel is beneficial but not essential.
- Be available to join the IT Security on-call rota.
Responsibilities
- Provide assurance that new and existing services remain sufficiently secure.
- Perform daily security operations tasks and own operational incidents, escalating as necessary.
- Continuously improve operational tasks and manage the lifecycle of core security technology tools.
- Act as a subject matter expert for security tools and train colleagues in their use.
- Own items on the team backlog and roadmap, and deliver point solutions.
- Assess change initiatives and changes for security compliance and IT security impact.
- Identify and assess vulnerabilities, and remediate deficiencies and findings from penetration tests, purple teaming, risk assessments, and audits.
- Enforce IT security policies, procedures, and standards, and identify exceptions.
- Work with strategic partners as part of the hybrid managed XDR service.
- Support risk-based security improvements, including for public-facing websites and services.
