Requirements
- Bring 5+ years of relevant Payments/Fintech industry experience as a backend software engineer.
- Be proficient in at least one major programming language, preferably Java, Kotlin, or Python.
- Have experience with architectural patterns for large, high-scale web applications.
- Build and work with well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
- Deliver products end to end, from ideation through planning, scoping, implementation, and experimental A/B testing.
- Apply high standards for code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with product, data science, design, and operations teams.
- Have familiarity with experimentation and machine learning techniques.
- Hold a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree, preferably in computer science, or have equivalent experience.
- Experience in payments-domain fraud or spam detection and mitigation is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a service-oriented, modular, observable, and efficient technology stack with well-defined APIs.
- Work with data scientists, product managers, and cross-functional partners to develop business insights and product features and respond to fraud attacks and risk issues.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party vendors, payment networks, and processors.
- Develop and iterate on risk detection, mitigation, and resolution strategies as scenarios and business requirements evolve.
- Monitor risk systems and maintain alerting to improve system quality and observability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across Airbnb to advance engineering processes and technical foundations.
