Have 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience building and operating production systems.
Be fluent in English and fluent in Spanish or Portuguese.
Be proficient in at least one backend language: Go, Python, or Node.js/TypeScript.
Have experience designing and building RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven backend systems.
Understand relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling; PostgreSQL is preferred.
Have experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Have demonstrated ability to integrate third-party APIs reliably in production, including error handling, retry logic, and observability.
Have experience working on globally distributed teams across time zones and regions.
Be comfortable using AI tools in everyday engineering work, integrating LLM API outputs into backend services, and using AI coding assistants.
Fintech, financial services, payments, or regulated-industry experience is preferred; familiarity with ledger systems, payment rails, KYC/AML, or PCI-DSS is a plus.
Experience with multi-currency systems or cross-border payment processing is preferred.
Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, and event-driven architecture is preferred.

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that process financial transactions and serve customers.
Write production-quality code in Go, Python, or Node.js/TypeScript and participate in design and code reviews.
Build and consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and design inter-service communication using gRPC, message queues, and event-driven architectures.
Design and optimize relational and non-relational database schemas.
Own backend features from scoping and technical design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Integrate LLM API calls into backend services and build safe pipelines for AI-generated outputs.
Instrument services with structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics.
Participate in on-call rotation, respond to production incidents, and contribute to post-incident reviews.
Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing infrastructure, and deployment practices.
Collaborate with engineering, product, compliance, and data teams across regions.
