Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from a US school; a master’s degree or higher is preferred.
- At least 1 year of English teaching experience and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center.
- Demonstrated academic excellence, such as a 3.5+ GPA.
- Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise or distraction.
- Availability Tuesday through Thursday, 1:30 pm–9:30 pm CST, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 am–5:30 pm CST.
- Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.
- Understanding of classroom pedagogy and ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples are preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach small groups of students English core skills to build long-term understanding and support ACT and SAT readiness.
- Track students’ progress through the multi-phase curriculum.
- Engage students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities.
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules.
- Hold students accountable for assignments and communicate with them in a timely manner.
- Model professionalism and strong organizational skills.
- Develop and creatively execute lesson plans and curriculum.
- Mentor middle and high school students through the college application process.
