Requirements
- Have 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Have 4+ years leading engineering teams in product companies.
- Bring experience with hiring, employee growth, and performance management.
- Show a track record of helping engineers level up and handling difficult performance situations.
- Have hands-on experience using AI to speed up code writing, review, and refactoring.
- Use good judgment about when not to rely on AI.
- Move quickly from ideas to experiments, validate with real users, and change direction based on evidence.
- Thrive in ambiguity and be willing to try new approaches.
- Be fluent in English.
- Payments or fintech experience, including PSPs, reconciliation, or compliance, is a nice-to-have.
- Experience working at scale is a nice-to-have.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 7–9 engineers focused on Payments.
- Set expectations, give regular feedback, run performance reviews and calibrations, and address underperformance early.
- Create individual growth plans, coach through pairing and code review, and provide stretch opportunities.
- Partner with the Product Manager and Design to choose foundational investments, experiments, and pivots based on user needs.
- Implement features and architectural changes directly in the team’s codebase.
- Maintain and improve the team’s AI-native practices as tools evolve.
- Keep quality high and operational burden low as delivery speeds up.
- Track and communicate delivery speed, quality, team engagement, and product outcomes.
