Requirements
- Have at least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Have a proven track record designing, building, and operating highly available distributed systems.
- Bring deep expertise in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and applied cryptography.
- Have hands-on experience operating certificate authorities and managing X.509 certificate lifecycles.
- Have experience automating certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, and trust-chain distribution.
- Have experience protecting private keys with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) or cloud Key Management Services (KMS).
- Have extensive programming experience with Go, Java, C++, or Rust and be able to contribute in a Go-heavy environment.
- Have experience operating Tier-0 or similarly critical infrastructure where security, resilience, availability, and low latency are essential.
- Have led technical strategy, system architecture, and delivery for complex, large-scale engineering projects.
- Be able to translate regulatory and compliance requirements into secure, maintainable technical solutions.
- Have technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Have experience using generative AI tools responsibly with human judgment and oversight.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of public and internal certificate management systems.
- Define and execute multi-quarter technical strategies for emerging cryptographic needs.
- Design, implement, and operate services for certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, and trust-chain distribution.
- Own engineering initiatives involving secure protocols, private-key protection, and stringent security and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure reliability, performance, and security of mission-critical distributed systems in a zero-trust environment.
- Establish engineering quality standards through code reviews, architectural practices, and risk management.
- Mentor senior engineers and strengthen technical collaboration.
- Align with Security, Product, and Policy stakeholders to deliver critical initiatives.
- Apply generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve engineering workflows.
