  • Knowledge of medical billing, insurance claims, and patient financial services.
  • Proficiency in payment processing, account reconciliation, and financial transactions.
  • Ability to review patient accounts for accuracy and compliance, with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word, and healthcare billing software.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Associate degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of call center experience preferred.
  • Experience with Athena software, electronic health records (EHR), and insurance billing systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient inquiries about account balances, billing statements, and insurance claims, resolving them within two business days.
  • Process and post credit card payments daily in accordance with company policies and financial controls.
  • Verify and update insurance coverage, confirm patient-provided information, and set claims for rebilling in Athena.
  • Establish patient payment arrangements in accordance with organizational policies and guidelines.
  • Process mail and correspondence, handling account-related documents within two business days.
  • Close daily and monthly payment and deposit batches and reconcile them accurately.
  • Log inbound and outbound calls in the ticketing system and document patient interactions.
  • Collaborate with billing, revenue cycle, and insurance verification teams to resolve patient account concerns.
  • Assist with financial assistance applications and payment plan inquiries based on eligibility criteria.
