Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid Ohio teaching license and/or administrator license, or ability to obtain one.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience, such as department chair, instructional coach, dean, or assistant principal.
  • Experience in virtual school settings or teaching online.
  • Experience supervising employees and conducting evaluations or performance reviews.
  • Comfort working in online learning environments and with learning management and student information systems.
  • Proven experience managing, coaching, or mentoring teachers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including documentation that holds up to scrutiny.
  • Experience administering or coordinating standardized testing and working with student assessment data is an advantage.
  • Experience as a member of a founding team for a new school is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise instructional staff through weekly coaching, support, and goal-setting meetings.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new teachers; observe instruction and provide actionable feedback.
  • Monitor grading practices, review staff performance, approve timecards, and coordinate coverage for teacher absences.
  • Manage student conduct and academic integrity cases, including investigations, determinations, documentation, and family communication.
  • Oversee truancy and attendance compliance, including required notifications, documentation, and filings under Ohio law.
  • Analyze course-, teacher-, and school-level performance, engagement, and attendance data and use findings to inform instructional strategies.
  • Coordinate Ohio state assessments and other testing, including scheduling, proctoring logistics, test security, accommodations, and make-up testing.
  • Design and lead professional development and facilitate instructional team meetings.
  • Coordinate with the Content team on curriculum, checkpoint assignments, and platform issues; gather feedback and make curriculum recommendations.
  • Support teachers in comparing curriculum with OST blueprints and developing plans to address gaps.
