Requirements

  • Bring 6+ years of experience building large-scale Android apps.
  • Demonstrate a track record of shipping high-impact user features.
  • Have expert Kotlin and strong Gradle expertise.
  • Have strong Jetpack Compose/XML (ViewBinding) skills and Java interoperability experience.
  • Bring solid concurrency experience with Coroutines/Flow and Android Profiler.
  • Have networking experience with REST/Retrofit and offline/caching experience with Room.
  • Understand secure storage, including EncryptedSharedPreferences/Keystore, as well as privacy and accessibility.
  • Have release and quality engineering experience with JUnit/Espresso/snapshot testing, CI/CD (Bitrise), staged rollouts, feature flags, and reliable rollback.
  • Demonstrate organization-level influence through multi-team designs, standards adoption, mentoring, and raising execution pace.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and speech and partner effectively with Product, Design, and Backend.
  • Make data-driven decisions.
  • Have C1 English proficiency.
  • Preferred: Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Experience in cross-platform development.

Responsibilities

  • Own and ship Android features from problem framing through design, implementation, rollout, and monitoring.
  • Set and enforce mobile quality targets for stability, startup performance, accessibility, and security.
  • Lead mobile architecture and standards, including modularization, design system components, networking, and telemetry.
  • Ship safely using feature flags, staged rollouts, server-driven configuration, kill switches, and rollback plans.
  • Instrument, monitor, and alert on critical journeys, including errors, latency, jank, memory and battery usage, and app size.
  • Define shared foundations with iOS and Web teams and close cross-platform experience gaps.
  • Accelerate other engineers through design and code reviews, mentoring, CI/build-time improvements, and clear documentation.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Data to prototype, experiment, and make decisions based on user signals.
