Requirements
- Bring 4–7 years of backend engineering experience with exposure to scale, such as high TPS, large datasets, or multi-tenant environments.
- Demonstrate expert-level Node.js skills and a track record of writing clean, modular, reusable code.
- Have deep MongoDB expertise, including complex schemas, aggregation pipelines, indexing, and sharding.
- Have production experience with Redis, including caching, rate limiting, pub/sub, or distributed locks.
- Have hands-on experience building and running microservices on Kubernetes; basic knowledge of deployments, services, and configmaps is sufficient.
- Have hands-on experience with a major cloud provider: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Be able to use managed cloud services for containers, queues, caches, serverless, and databases.
- Be comfortable contributing to the frontend with a modern UI framework such as Vue.js, React, or Angular.
- Have shipped and supported large-scale systems that remained stable under heavy load.
- Preferred: experience with AI tools, contributions to open-source tools, internal platforms or engineering blogs, NestJS or Express.js, Elasticsearch, or an OLAP system such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Wallet, Billing, and Taxes features end to end, from API design and backend implementation to necessary Vue.js changes.
- Build and maintain stable, performant, scalable backend services using Node.js, MongoDB, and distributed-systems patterns.
- Identify and fix systemic issues such as crashes, time-outs, race conditions, and memory leaks.
- Optimize performance and costs through query tuning, caching, indexing, and cloud-spend reduction.
- Refactor critical code, improve test coverage, and eliminate anti-patterns to reduce technical debt.
- Implement security practices including input validation, authentication flows, secrets management, and rate limiting.
- Improve observability with logs, metrics, alerts, and tracing.
- Collaborate with QA by reviewing test cases, demonstrating work during handover, and addressing feedback.
- Contribute to internal tooling and automation for development and deployment.
- Participate in on-call rotations and resolve production incidents for owned services.
