Requirements

  • Have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Have owned architecture and design decisions.
  • Have a proven track record modernizing legacy systems into maintainable, cloud-capable architectures.
  • Have full software development lifecycle experience, from requirements through operations.
  • Have strong relational database fundamentals, such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Have experience in regulated-industry and/or enterprise software environments, including compliance, data integrity, and audit requirements.
  • Have a solid grounding in secure coding practices and software design principles.
  • Have a track record of mentoring or informally leading other engineers.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication in English with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Nice to have experience designing and owning CI/CD pipelines and supporting cloud-hosted/SaaS and on-premises environments.
  • Nice to have practical use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or Cursor, and experience shipping AI/ML-powered production features.

Responsibilities

  • Own architecture and design decisions for assigned systems, weighing technical trade-offs.
  • Lead modernization of legacy systems into maintainable, cloud-capable architectures.
  • Review requirements and designs to identify architectural risks, technical debt, and feasibility gaps.
  • Document solution-level architecture decisions, trade-offs, and reasoning.
  • Design and implement production software, and take ownership of its health after release.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools across design, implementation, and documentation.
  • Delegate work and mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and day-to-day guidance.
  • Translate customer needs, including regulated-industry and enterprise requirements, into technical designs.
  • Work with product owners, QA, and subject-matter experts to understand product use and risk.
  • Communicate trade-offs, risks, and plans to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
