Requirements
- Bring deep, hands-on experience designing systems that other developers depend on.
- Have daily, hands-on experience building with agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor across the software development lifecycle.
- Have experience delegating real work to agents, including writing specifications, running multi-file changes, and critically reviewing output.
- Demonstrate a track record of building production-grade systems, often from the ground up.
- Understand the challenges of working across large, long-lived codebases with many teams and deep history.
- Understand how to provide an LLM with useful context within a large codebase.
- Show curiosity about developer experience and productivity, including helping developers adopt tools through documentation, teaching, and hands-on support.
- Be comfortable with TypeScript.
- Ruby on Rails experience is helpful but not required.
- Experience with evals, prompt and context engineering, agent guardrails, observability, or quality measurement is welcome but not required.
Responsibilities
- Build tools and shared infrastructure that help developers across Jane work faster.
- Develop the agentic context and harness used by the monolith, along with plugins and skills for development teams.
- Create environments that let agents perform real work safely.
- Measure whether developer tools and agent workflows are effective.
- Work alongside product teams to identify workflow friction such as CI noise, oversized pull requests, review latency, and changes-requested churn.
- Turn observed developer workflow problems into tooling that can be used beyond the team you worked with.
- Increase the share of pull requests that agents open, land, and merge.
- Communicate context, risks, and updates in team channels.
