Requirements

  • Demonstrate strong Git competency, including branching strategies, merges and squashes, cherry-picking, tagging, and release workflows.
  • Have technical fluency with CI/CD pipelines, containers and images, build artifacts, frontend and backend systems, and deployment architecture.
  • Understand MySQL concepts including migrations, indexes, and the impact of database changes.
  • Have proven release management experience in a SaaS environment, managing multiple concurrent releases across cross-functional teams.
  • Bring strong project and process management skills, including tracking scope, dependencies, and release gates.
  • Have strong communication and documentation skills and work closely with Engineering, QA, Product, and CS.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience.
  • Be available for off-hours release work and reliably present for most releases on a sustainable schedule.
  • Prior software engineering, engineering management, Agile/Scrum/Ops, or database experience is strongly preferred.
  • AWS familiarity is strongly preferred.
  • Regulated-industry release experience, including HIPAA, SOC 2, or FedRAMP change control, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with zero-downtime deployments, database migrations, feature flags or progressive delivery, scripting and automation, defect tracking, or configuration management is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Standard and Limited releases, including configuring and verifying audience scoping.
  • Execute approved hotfixes by cutting the branch, shipping the fix, and closing it out.
  • Define the rollback path for each release type, make the call when a deployment fails technically, and run the rollback.
  • Own release readiness and technical and business go/no-go decisions; surface dependencies, technical coupling, and deployment-ordering constraints.
  • Produce a release manifest for every release, covering contents, teams, commits, migrations, and configuration changes.
  • Enforce branching, merge, cherry-pick, release-branch, tag, and version discipline across repositories.
  • Own the known state, availability, scheduling, data refresh, and configuration parity of Devtest, Acceptance, Beta, and Production.
  • Own the build-promotion and deployment pipeline, reduce manual steps, and verify deployments.
  • Track release statuses and metrics, run retrospectives for failed or rolled-back releases, and maintain release runbooks and documentation.
  • Produce and retain production change-control records and serve as the system of record for release history in audits.
  • Communicate release dates, freeze windows, schedules, and deployment status to teams and stakeholders.
