Requirements
- Be an organization, not an individual worker.
- Be a California employer or employer association hiring for EV charging equipment service work, a local workforce development board serving that sector, or a worker organization independent of the employer partner with a record of meaningful, consistent, and ongoing advocacy of workers' interests.
- Have authority to sign a letter of commitment before the October 30, 2026 deadline.
- Be able to stay engaged for the project term.
- If an employer has a collective bargaining agreement, obtain participation and support from the union or unions representing its workers.
- For employer partners, High Road employer practices, such as competitive pay, employer-paid benefits, safety, and worker voice, are preferred.
- Existing relationships with community colleges, apprenticeship programs, or workforce boards are preferred.
- Experience serving workers or communities facing barriers to employment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an Employer partner or Worker Voice Representative for the proposed project.
- Provide a letter of commitment, no more than two pages, describing the organization's role.
- Share in-demand skills, equipment, and operating conditions as an employer partner.
- Commit to interviews, hiring, work-based learning, or job placement for graduates as an employer partner.
- Bring worker input on job safety, barriers to employment, and mentorship as a worker voice partner.
- Provide worker representation throughout the project term as a worker voice partner.
- Help shape curriculum to reflect real employer needs and job quality.
- Take part in partner meetings and check-ins during the project term.
- Optionally commit in-kind match, such as staff time, equipment, or facilities, and document it in the letter.
