Job Details

Hold an Illinois PEL with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification, or be able to obtain the Illinois PEL through out-of-state license reciprocity.
Be proficient with video-conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
Be able to teach multiple grade levels as student populations change.
Be able to work with youth with emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and academic difficulties.
Be able to create and design digital content for online lessons.
Use classroom-management techniques adapted for virtual settings.
Be skilled in differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
Use digital curriculum and assessment tools, including interactive lessons, accommodated materials, and online progress monitoring.
Troubleshoot basic technology issues and manage digital file storage, including Google Workspace.
Be familiar with assistive technology tools such as text-to-speech, speech-to-text, screen readers, AAC apps, and accessibility settings.
Maintain accurate records and precise documentation in a virtual environment.
Work 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, following a 10-month school calendar.

Provide five hours of virtual direct instruction each day.
Plan lessons, grade work, and complete IEP work during flexible work time.
Provide a differentiated learning environment and project-based instruction in a virtual setting.
Create a social-emotional learning environment and personalize learning.
Collaborate with curriculum and clinical staff and other school personnel.
Teach a classroom of around 10 students with paraprofessional support.
Use digital curriculum and assessment tools to modify materials and monitor student progress.
Maintain accurate student records in a virtual environment.
