Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Five years of progressive sales or account management experience within the consumer products industry.
- Demonstrated experience working with Ace Hardware, Orgill, and Do it Best for the hardware channel.
- Experience calling on corporate buyers and developing, selling, and executing top-down brand and category strategies.
- Knowledge of regional dealer networks, established relationships, and ability to drive dealer adoption of brand programs.
- Experience managing or working with third-party agencies.
- For the farm channel, experience with Tractor Supply Company, Mid-States Distributing, and other regional farm retailers.
- Experience developing business with leading farm and ranch retailers through corporate and field sales initiatives.
- Strong account-planning, presentation, negotiation, forecasting, and financial-management skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed; domestic travel of up to 50% is required.
- Experience with sporting-goods retailers and category strategy is preferred, not required.
Responsibilities
- Manage sales strategy for assigned national retailers and distribution channels, meeting profitable-growth expectations.
- Build relationships with key account decision-makers and management teams.
- Develop account, brand, and category strategies to expand product introductions, retailer penetration, and channel growth.
- Identify product, promotional, and distribution opportunities.
- Prepare account plans, assess sales performance, and take corrective action to meet profitability objectives.
- Create and deliver product, promotion, category, and business-review presentations.
- Manage price quotes and sales administration for assigned accounts and channels.
- Provide demand forecasts and participate in Sales & Operations Planning discussions about demand, production scheduling, and finished-goods inventory.
- Partner with internal sales, marketing, product, operations, and finance teams, and manage third-party agencies to support customer priorities and brand standards.
- Attend trade shows, customer events, dealer meetings, and other industry functions; support sales-team training as needed.
