Requirements
- Bring twelve or more years of progressive experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence, quantitative decision support, or closely related work.
- Have at least five years of people leadership experience, including meaningful experience leading Team Leads, managers, or senior analytical staff.
- Show success building, scaling, or materially improving an analytics or data science function and delivering capabilities used in business decisions or production products.
- Have recent hands-on analytical delivery experience; this is not a management-only role.
- Have experience owning an analytics portfolio spanning data science, executive or management reporting, enterprise KPIs, self-service analytics, forecasting, scenario modeling, and ad hoc decision support.
- Have experience developing and evaluating predictive models, including train/test design, backtesting, performance metrics, stability or drift analysis, and documentation.
- Have experience defining enterprise metrics and reconciling definitions across functions, including denominator logic, cohorts, time periods, data lineage, and reproducibility.
- Have strong hands-on capability with SQL and Python or equivalent analytical tools, plus business-intelligence and visualization platforms.
- Have working knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, experimentation, forecasting, scenario analysis, feature development, data visualization, and reproducible analytical workflows.
- Be able to frame ambiguous business questions, select an appropriate analytical approach, and clearly communicate findings, uncertainty, limitations, and trade-offs.
- Relevant education or professional training in a quantitative discipline is valued; a degree is not mandatory.
- Lending, credit, or financial-services analytics experience, business-user support, and data reconciliation are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and develop two Team Leads and four Analysts, setting roles, quality standards, feedback, and accountability.
- Prioritize analytical demand based on business impact, urgency, data readiness, and capacity.
- Own the enterprise analytical agenda and resource plan while remaining hands-on in priority delivery.
- Translate business questions into statistical analyses, predictive models, experiments, dashboards, forecasts, scenario models, and recommendations.
- Evaluate and communicate model performance, assumptions, limitations, and material changes in results.
- Advise senior leaders on findings, uncertainty, and trade-offs, and challenge business assumptions and analytical methods.
- Establish consistent metric definitions, technical evaluation, documentation, and review practices.
- Partner with data engineering and business teams to improve data quality, automate recurring work, expand self-service analytics, and retire redundant reporting.
- Review demand, decision usefulness, and recurring quality issues, and track agreed improvements.
