Requirements

  • Have 2+ years of direct employee relations experience, including employee complaints, time and attendance issues, leaves, workplace investigations, terminations, and policy application.
  • Have proficient HR experience in the geographical area of responsibility.
  • Know employment law in the area of responsibility.
  • Know employment policies and practices related to the business area.
  • Be able to conduct high volumes of unbiased workplace investigations and recommend comprehensive solutions that consider legal, business, and personal implications.
  • Maintain confidentiality, take thorough notes, and follow through on outcomes.
  • Use objective note-taking and labor-law-compliant questioning techniques in investigations.
  • Have strong listening, communication, analytical, critical-thinking, troubleshooting, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Suite, and GSuite, and adaptable to other systems.
  • Be able to travel up to 25% within the market and North America for meetings and site visits.
  • Preferred: 2+ years in retail or manufacturing people support.
  • Preferred: HR coursework, a degree, or certification; cross-cultural collaboration experience; or DEIB or social justice training.
  • Preferred: Fluency in Spanish, French, or other languages.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve high volumes of performance and employee relations challenges, separations, investigations, terminations, and leaves across North America.
  • Advise leaders on complex employee relations issues and effective conflict resolution.
  • Conduct workplace investigations involving bullying, harassment, workplace violence, fitness for work, and misconduct.
  • Drive employee engagement through quarterly site visits and people compliance and engagement audits.
  • Lead temporary and permanent layoffs and shop closures, ensuring compliance and execution.
  • Partner with managers on performance improvement plans, including coaching and monitoring.
  • Review accommodation requests and partner with managers to implement appropriate accommodations.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training processes by guiding internal customers on tools and resources.
  • Coordinate return-to-work processes with employees, managers, and the benefits team.
  • Collect accurate data, report on trends, and escalate serious issues.
