Requirements
- Bring significant experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Have experience managing legal risk and supporting compliance and governance.
- Be able to prepare bespoke legal and commercial terms when established precedents are unavailable.
- Experience in private practice or as in-house legal counsel is highly regarded.
- A JD is beneficial but not required.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Manage deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Apply commercial judgment and understand business priorities.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate standard and bespoke customer contracts, variations, promotional letters, notices, novations, settlements, and terminations.
- Ensure contracts align with legal and regulatory requirements, organisational policies, and approval processes.
- Provide first-level contractual and commercial guidance to the wholesale business, escalating legal issues to the Legal team where appropriate.
- Identify and manage operational, legal, financial, and credit risks in customer agreements.
- Work with regulatory colleagues on strategic, operational, and technical compliance matters.
- Build stakeholder relationships and support commercially sound decisions and effective risk management.
- Maintain and improve contract governance processes, tracking agreements from request and drafting through to signing.
