Requirements
- Have 6+ years of indirect tax or indirect tax technology experience.
- Know US sales and use tax, Canada GST/HST/PST, and Australia and New Zealand GST.
- Have food and beverage and retail tax context.
- Have hands-on experience implementing or configuring Vertex O Series and reviewing its configurations and testing documentation.
- Have hands-on experience implementing or configuring ERP tax integration, such as NetSuite, with the Vertex tax engine.
- Translate business and tax requirements into functional system requirements and review technical and functional design documents.
- Have experience engaging engineering teams on tax-system design and product development, with working knowledge of end-to-end tax platform launches.
- Understand tax data flows from upstream transaction systems through a tax engine to downstream reporting, including ERP integration flows.
- Have project management experience, including project charters, plans, milestones, Gantt charts, RAID logs, and timelines.
- Have experience with Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides, Monday.com, and JIRA.
- Have experience using SQL or Snowflake for data self-service, issue investigation, or testing validation.
- Have experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SOAP UI, and the ability to read XML and JSON logs.
- Hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or Computer Science.
Responsibilities
- Lead tax platform projects, including new vertical, merchant, partnership, and product launches and legislative changes.
- Gather business and tax requirements from TAP, Tax Product, and business stakeholders, and translate them into tax-system functional requirements.
- Review BRDs, PRDs, and TDDs for tax-system implications and provide functional tax expertise to Tax Engineering.
- Define testing requirements and oversee unit, integration, E2E, shadow, and post-launch test validations.
- Trace tax-relevant data from upstream systems through Vertex to downstream reporting, and flag gaps or risks.
- Validate operational and system readiness for production releases and document post-launch lessons learned.
- Bridge non-tax technology stakeholders and technical tax technology teams.
- Coordinate workload, time-zone coverage, and knowledge transfer with US- and Mexico-based peers and offshore team members.
