Requirements
- Reason about data-intensive systems, including ingestion, storage, querying, and cost trade-offs.
- Own features in ambiguous problem spaces and work independently.
- Apply a user-centered software development process and understand users’ context and goals.
- Value code maintainability, readability, and automation.
- Communicate design decisions clearly in written and spoken English.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully in engineering workflows.
- The team stack includes Go, TypeScript, and React.
- Bonus: Experience with columnar or analytical databases.
- Bonus: Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or Sentry.
- Bonus: Experience building debugging or developer-focused tools.
- Bonus: Familiarity with privacy, security, and access control in data-heavy systems.
- Bonus: Experience with performance-sensitive systems, large datasets, real-time queries, or session data.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical direction for Session Replay across frontend, backend, and data systems.
- Design systems around columnar or analytical data storage for large-scale session data.
- Define data models, ingestion pipelines, and query patterns.
- Lead investigation workflows that connect replay with logs, metrics, traces, and other Grafana Cloud telemetry.
- Make architectural decisions that affect multiple teams and products.
- Partner with Frontend Observability, Synthetic Monitoring, and Core Grafana teams on cross-product experiences.
- Join customer calls, gather structured feedback, and help customers instrument and adopt Session Replay.
- Improve engineering standards, patterns, and operational practices within the team.
- Mentor engineers and help grow technical leadership within the team.
