Requirements
- Have 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Currently focus on individual-contributor work and shipping production software.
- Have experience designing and implementing high-volume event-driven architectures, event buses, or comparable distributed data-processing patterns.
- Have production experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB at scale, including systems handling millions of records.
- Have experience building and operating heavy-data production systems where reliability, scalability, and performance are critical.
- Be able to take significant architectural ownership while remaining hands-on in implementation and delivery.
- Have professional-level fluency in both Portuguese and English.
- Be based in Latin America; candidates in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, or Chile are particularly aligned.
- Be a hands-on engineer actively shipping production code rather than having recently moved into a purely managerial or director-level role.
- Be able to work directly with external technical stakeholders, internal teams, and engineering partners.
Responsibilities
- Design and build a high-volume, event-driven data platform from the ground up.
- Develop systems to ingest and process millions of clinical events through a lakehouse architecture.
- Transform and standardize clinical information into FHIR format.
- Build, operate, and maintain PostgreSQL and MongoDB systems handling millions of records.
- Work with hospital IT teams to understand technical requirements and integrate with existing and legacy healthcare infrastructure.
- Design and build developer-facing public APIs for external clients.
- Own the data lifecycle from event ingestion and processing through data serving and internal analytics.
- Ship and operate reliable, scalable production code while retaining hands-on ownership.
- Use AI coding tools in the daily engineering workflow.
