Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree; communications, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Have at least 8 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
- Have experience writing, editing, and producing professional information products such as newsletters, web content, press materials, executive briefings, and educational resources.
- Have experience managing communication channels, including internal communications platforms and social media.
- Be able to tailor messaging for senior leaders, technical professionals, clinicians, operational teams, and external partners.
- Have experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and digital design platforms; Adobe Creative Suite or Canva experience is an advantage.
- Understand and apply Section 508 accessibility requirements and plain-language standards.
- Be able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience in VA, VHA, federal healthcare, or another government healthcare environment is highly desirable.
- Health IT, electronic health record, interoperability, clinical-audience, change management, or Agile delivery experience is preferred or advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop communication plans, calendars, and messaging strategies for clinical, operational, technical, and partner audiences.
- Write, edit, and produce newsletters, fact sheets, web and SharePoint content, executive briefings, infographics, and outreach materials.
- Manage content for health informatics communities of practice and related communication channels.
- Develop outreach and educational materials supporting health information exchange with patients, community providers, and industry partners.
- Create deployment and adoption communications for electronic health record transitions, VistA/CPRS changes, and related initiatives.
- Develop communications for informatics workforce development, training, engagement, and organizational change.
- Draft press materials, talking points, responses to information requests, and other public affairs content for government review and release.
- Create and schedule internal and social media content, monitor audience response, and track communication effectiveness.
- Ensure products meet Section 508 accessibility requirements, plain-language principles, branding standards, and communication policies.
- Coordinate communications timelines with Agile delivery and collaborate with stakeholders to make complex initiatives accessible and actionable.
