Requirements
- Be a third- or fourth-year undergraduate student or a recent graduate.
- Have experience with TypeScript.
- Have familiarity with HTML, APIs, structured and unstructured data, and formats such as JSON and CSV.
- Understand software development fundamentals, debugging, version control, and Git-based workflows.
- Be familiar with web scraping or browser automation tools such as BeautifulSoup, Playwright, or Selenium.
- Python familiarity for data collection, automation, or analysis is valuable.
- Write clear, maintainable technical documentation.
- Show attention to detail and ownership of data quality and technical outcomes.
- Be willing to investigate unfamiliar systems and work through inconsistent websites and undocumented systems.
- Prior web-scraping experience is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data scrapers and ingestion pipelines for government data sources across the United States.
- Research new data sources using internal tooling, AI agents, and technical investigation.
- Develop methods to collect and structure data from websites, APIs, and other public sources.
- Validate incoming data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability before production.
- Monitor data sources, troubleshoot failures, and improve scraper resilience.
- Investigate inconsistent websites, undocumented behaviors, and changing data formats.
- Document source behavior, extraction logic, technical decisions, and data-quality checks.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and validate generated outputs for technical accuracy.
