Requirements
- Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager at a venture-backed company.
- Track record of improving accounting processes rather than only maintaining existing processes.
- Experience taking a company through its first external audit, including explaining what broke and how you addressed it.
- Month-end close ownership across two or more legal entities in different currencies.
- Deep, hands-on ASC 606 experience, applied to at least one revenue model without clean precedent and defended to an auditor.
- Willingness to work in the detail, including building the close calendar, performing reconciliations, and working directly in the ledger.
- Experience developing a small team or a single direct report.
- Active CPA license is a plus.
- Usage-based or consumption billing experience, particularly with Tabs, Metronome, Maxio, or similar, is a plus.
- Public accounting or audit experience is a plus.
- Software development capitalization under ASC 350-40, including auditable time capture, is a plus.
- Experience automating manual accounting work is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Own the readiness assessment, remediation plan, auditor relationship, and first external financial statement audit.
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close across Notabene Inc. and Notabene GmbH.
- Produce GAAP financial statements, consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and FX translation under ASC 830.
- Write technical accounting positions and memos for ASC 606, ASC 350-40, ASC 718, and emerging stablecoin payment revenue.
- Own Tabs as the billing and revenue system of record, including contract configuration, usage data integrity, and the bridge to the general ledger.
- Develop payroll allocation and software development capitalization policies.
- Design and implement controls over revenue, cash, procure to pay, and payroll.
- Evaluate the accounting stack and automate rule-bound, high-volume processes.
- Own AR and collections, AP and payroll accounting, and US tax compliance in coordination with external advisers.
- Coordinate Swiss compliance and direct external providers against a Notabene-owned close checklist, policies, and reconciliations.
