Requirements
- Have 7+ years of experience in automation, integration, or IT systems engineering, including hands-on delivery of business-critical automations.
- Bring deep hands-on Workato experience, including recipe design, API integrations, and error handling, or experience with another iPaaS such as Boomi, MuleSoft, Tray, or n8n.
- Have experience integrating enterprise systems, including identity and access management, human resources, ticketing, or finance systems.
- Have used APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patterns for integrations.
- Demonstrate a track record of designing reusable patterns adopted by other engineers.
- Have hands-on experience building AI-powered and agentic workflows in a governed environment.
- Be proficient in a scripting language such as Python.
- Be comfortable choosing and defending approaches to unfamiliar problems with evidence.
- Have experience partnering with engineering and security colleagues on technical design and cultivating vendor relationships.
- Be able to influence without authority, adapt messages to the audience, and help less experienced engineers grow.
- Have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Workato or equivalent iPaaS certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver complex, business-critical automations and integrations connecting core systems, including AI-powered and agentic workflows.
- Choose technical approaches for problems without established patterns and document recommendations, options, risks, and tradeoffs.
- Identify and address structural causes such as brittle integrations, workflow gaps, and unclear data contracts.
- Develop reusable patterns, shared components, and agent building blocks, and drive their adoption across IT.
- Guide technical principles for authentication, error handling, agent permissions, and testing, and help shape standards with Security and Compliance.
- Own monitoring, alerting, and incident response for production automations and agents; lead investigations when systems break.
- Serve as an escalation point and reduce recurring incidents through root-cause fixes, automation, and better tooling.
- Partner with teams across the company on integration design and cultivate relationships with vendors and platform partners.
- Support IT Systems Engineers through design reviews and pairing, and provide training and documentation on orchestration and AI agents.
