Requirements

  • Hold an engineering degree; a BS in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Bring excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have aptitude with MS Office, PDF, and other productivity software.
  • Demonstrate project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Show leadership skills and the ability to take ownership of assigned projects.
  • Have experience leading projects within multiple states and progressing them from preliminary engineering into the construction phase.
  • Have a strong understanding of railroad and highway infrastructure projects; this is preferred.
  • Know DOT project management processes, phasing, and regulatory rules; this is preferred.
  • Be proficient in collaborating with local and state agency project sponsors.
  • Be located in or near the project area is preferred; the posting also expresses a strong preference for the Midwestern States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide railroad project management services and work with local and state government agency project sponsors.
  • Review initial project requests that may impact railroad property or right of way.
  • Communicate with owning railroad managers and manage cost-effective coordination.
  • Review project work plans with team members and agency designers.
  • Monitor project budgets, scopes, and schedule estimates.
  • Coordinate inspection and construction monitoring requirements with field personnel.
  • Manage project updates, new processes, databases, records, correspondence, and reports.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with internal and external project stakeholders, and maintain client relationships.
  • Coordinate sub-consultant work, assist with agreements and contract negotiations, and support conflict resolution.
  • Complete project initiation and compliance forms, verify invoices, and ensure compliance with quality guidelines and procedures.
