Requirements

  • Hold a full GMC licence.
  • Hold a CCT in General Adult Psychiatry or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Have recent and relevant experience providing safe and effective interventions for people and families experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Provide safe and effective therapeutic interventions to adult patients and support their families.
  • Know when to make appropriate recommendations and referrals to other services.
  • Work within your competence and the standards defined by your professional body, and be in good standing with that body.
  • Have effective time-management skills.
  • Be willing to take direction from departmental leads where relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat adult outpatients across mood, anxiety, and neurodevelopmental disorders, including more complex severe and enduring presentations.
  • Manage assessment and treatment pathways and develop a balanced caseload of new and follow-up patients.
  • Refer patients in-house to multidisciplinary team members for therapeutic treatment where appropriate.
  • Attend weekly and monthly multidisciplinary team meetings, risk management meetings, clinical governance meetings, CPD, and PDP activities.
  • Provide safe and effective therapeutic interventions to adult patients and support their families.
  • Make appropriate recommendations and referrals to other services.
  • Support and advise the multidisciplinary team where appropriate.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, service development, quality improvement, and new initiatives where interested.
