Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field and have at least two years of relevant experience, or hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and have at least four years of relevant experience.
- Have experience working with adults or children with serious psychiatric, chemical dependence, or developmental disabilities in a community mental health center or similar setting.
- Qualify as a Qualified Professional according to 10A NCAC 27G .0104.
- Have knowledge of behavioral health principles, techniques, and practices.
- Be familiar with mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse disorders.
- Understand person-centered and recovery philosophies.
- Be able to use complex telephone and computer systems and document information electronically.
- Be able to interact professionally and effectively with people who are upset or disagree.
- Be able to communicate clearly orally and in writing and establish effective working relationships with community members and provider agency staff.
- Work Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and be available for holiday rotations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Handle telephonic requests for services and respond to member and recipient calls.
- Ask callers about their needs, confirm eligibility, and collect demographic information.
- Offer available provider choices and schedule appointments within established access time standards.
- Refer callers with indicators of immediate risk to a Member and Recipient Services Clinician.
- Provide information about Vaya Partners, its provider network, community resources, and North Carolina Medicaid services.
- Complete warm transfers and link callers to providers, community resources, and other appropriate parties.
- Document calls, forms, and reports in electronic information systems at the time of the call.
- Notify appropriate managers or provider-network staff about service-system gaps and trends.
