Requirements
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field required.
- Paralegal certificate required.
- Collections litigation experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, and related software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field preferred.
- Previous insurance industry-related experience preferred.
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and related matters.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party collections agencies, outside counsel, and in-house attorneys.
- Provide updates, gather documentation, and manage litigation from initial complaint through post-judgment litigation.
- Draft and edit pleadings, subpoena responses, affidavits, and releases.
- Research and analyze statutes, regulations, and other sources to assist with legal requests.
- Travel as necessary to serve as a witness or legal representative in court proceedings and mediation sessions related to collections matters.
- Assist attorneys with correspondence to third-party vendors and collections law firms.
- Develop and maintain reporting on litigated matters.
