Requirements
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or a combination of education and/or experience.
- Have 3 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred skills include billing systems and Epic EHR.
- Preferred skills include customer service, financial information, insurance, and third-party claims.
- Preferred skills include medical office support, scheduling, organizing, and prioritization.
- Preferred tools include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Word.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient insurance information and referral forms, and explain financial assistance options.
- Schedule and register patients by phone or email, including collecting demographics and insurance information.
- Communicate with physicians and clinical staff about urgent or referred scheduling requests.
- Review new-patient schedules and make updates when needed.
- Call patients with appointment reminders and process internal physician referrals for clinical care.
- Explain billing processes to patients and staff, answer patient and third-party payer inquiries, and assist with insurance questions.
- Assist with basic account maintenance activities.
- Use the Relatient patient reminder system results to contact patients or make scheduling changes.
- Assist staff with reminder cards and other scheduling duties, and make temporary provider-template changes based on physician input.
