Requirements

  • Have 8-10+ years of professional experience in commercial interior design.
  • Bring strong experience across workplace and education projects.
  • Provide a portfolio demonstrating high-quality commercial interior projects.
  • Have strong technical knowledge of interior documentation, detailing, and construction.
  • Be able to independently develop complete documentation packages from sketches, mark-ups, briefs, or verbal direction.
  • Have strong spatial planning and technical design skills, and a good understanding of materials, finishes, furniture, and construction detailing.
  • Have working knowledge of Australian building and accessibility requirements, including NCC/BCA and DDA.
  • Be advanced in AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT and SketchUp or equivalent 3D modelling software.
  • Be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Have experience preparing tender and construction documentation.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, organisation, independent deadline management, and proactive problem-solving and coordination.
  • Have strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Have reliable high-speed internet and a workstation capable of handling large CAD and 3D files.
  • Be available for Sydney working hours, with a minimum of six hours’ daily overlap and occasional collaboration during Australian business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Develop workplace and education commercial interior designs from concept through detailed design, tender, and construction documentation.
  • Translate briefs, sketches, mark-ups, and design direction into accurate, coordinated drawings.
  • Prepare space plans, test fits, site and demolition plans, general arrangement plans, reflected ceiling plans, and furniture and finishes plans.
  • Produce elevations, joinery drawings and details, ceiling, floor threshold and partition details, and stair drawings and details.
  • Prepare and maintain finishes, furniture, door, and equipment schedules.
  • Develop SketchUp 3D models and visualisations where required.
  • Assist with design development, material selections, and InDesign presentation documentation.
  • Coordinate architectural and interior design information with specialist consultants and incorporate their information, mark-ups, and design changes.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, coordination, and completeness, and raise potential issues with the Director.
  • Manage assigned tasks and deliverables to agreed deadlines and, as the business grows, oversee and review other team members’ work.
