Requirements

  • Have prior experience running a security engineering team.
  • Bring a strong engineering background and the ability to engage in technical conversations and challenge teams to reach sound technical decisions.
  • Be comfortable working with autonomous engineering teams on technical and product decisions.
  • Keep up to date with technical trends and shifts relevant to the challenges facing the teams.
  • Approach security with a DevOps mindset, favoring enablement, automation, and guardrails over gates and roadblocks.
  • Be familiar with securing and operating on public cloud providers: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Be familiar with Kubernetes and securing combined open-source software (OSS) and SaaS products.
  • Communicate cybersecurity concepts clearly in writing and verbally to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Translate security problems into business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the application security team across application security, cloud security, and internal tooling development.
  • Lead first- and third-party vulnerability management, including coordinated disclosure with external reporters and embargoed fixes.
  • Define, optimize, and implement engineering strategy with security leadership, individual contributors, and business stakeholders.
  • Hold regular 1:1s and coach, mentor, and provide continuous feedback to team members.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders and organizational stakeholders to shape product strategy, roadmaps, and designs.
  • Engage in significant incidents, including preparation, simulation, response, and affected-customer notification and communications.
  • Contribute to and review design documents for upcoming projects, assess readiness for development, and advise on breaking projects into tasks.
