Experience
Three years of coding experience

Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of coding experience, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Hold one of the listed credentials: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, COC, CIRCC, RCC, or ROCC.
  • Have experience in a Level 1 Trauma center and/or teaching facility.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze charts and assign ICD-CM and ICD-PCS codes using 3M computer-assisted coding to determine final DRG assignment.
  • Review inpatient Rehabilitation Unit records at admission and discharge and assign codes for Case Mix Group assignment.
  • Abstract and review patient data in EPIC and 3M 360 CAC to support data integrity, reimbursement, case mix, and hospital decision support.
  • Identify documentation clarity needs and work with the Clinical Documentation Improvement department on documentation review or clarification requests.
  • Maintain four-day inpatient coding turnaround times based on discharge date.
