Experience
Two (2) years of medical coding experience.

Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Hold current HIM/coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC.
  • Have two years of medical coding experience.
  • Two years of physician office coding experience is preferred.
  • Have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Be able to concentrate and maintain accuracy during interruptions.
  • Be able to prioritize, organize, and complete assigned tasks.
  • Be able to make independent decisions and adapt to workplace changes.
  • Meet quality and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures affecting inpatient stays or outpatient encounters.
  • Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and modifier codes.
  • Complete coding, charging, and account abstraction accurately and on time for assigned specialty areas.
  • Review data for accuracy, quality, and timely completion to support clean billing.
  • Contact physicians and others to obtain information needed for accurate coding.
  • Monitor provider documentation and audit coding accuracy.
  • Follow up with provider education as needed.
  • Assist Revenue Cycle Operations with claim development and resolving problem patient accounts.
