Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of healthcare integration engineering experience focused on payer connectivity.
- Deep understanding of HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2, and X12 EDI.
- Experience with Java, C#, Python, and JavaScript/Node.js.
- Background in CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage external business relationships.
- Strong project management skills coordinating multiple concurrent projects.
- Preferred: experience with payer organizations on technical integrations and knowledge of PBM systems.
- Preferred: experience with EMR/EHR integration patterns, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Preferred: experience mentoring less experienced engineers and knowledge of TEFCA or CMS interoperability initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end integration of medication data feeds from national and regional payers.
- Design, build, and support direct payer integrations, including with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and BCBS.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for payer-specific integration requirements.
- Maintain payer relationships, align on requirements and timelines, and provide regular updates.
- Build, maintain, and optimize prior authorization integrations; troubleshoot issues across payer systems.
- Manage integration projects from discovery through go-live, including timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder communication.
- Partner with Product Management to define scalable payer integration capabilities and create and maintain SOPs.
- Mentor Integration Services Engineers and support knowledge sharing and documentation.
