Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree.
- Maintain an active state teaching license.
- Hold an appropriate state Department of Education Middle School (5-8) History Teaching Certification.
- Clear the required background check.
- Work independently, typically 40 or more hours per week.
- Maintain a professional home office without distractions during the workday.
- Travel as required, on average once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time.
- Experience working with the proposed age group is desired.
- Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment is desired.
- Experience with online learning platforms is desired.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is desired.
Responsibilities
- Deliver synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
- Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on each student's level of mastery.
- Adapt course content using appropriate synchronous and asynchronous tools under the guidance of the principal and coach.
- Maintain the grade book, make placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to student performance or progress concerns.
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Build rapport with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches or parents.
- Support learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom technology issues.
- Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and other school requirements.
