Requirements
- Have 10+ years of relevant experience in the tech industry.
- Have 5+ years of experience in an Engineering Manager role, with ownership responsibility over large-scale software systems.
- Demonstrate strong product judgment grounded in data about user behavior and outcomes.
- Have a track record of setting and maintaining multi-year technical direction for a live, business-critical platform.
- Have experience leading a major re-architecture or transition, such as batch to real-time or rules-based to model-driven, while continuing delivery.
- Bring depth in backend, data, or ML platforms and the ability to understand data engineering, machine learning, and backend engineering.
- Have experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, and real-time or streaming architectures.
- Have experience applying ML and LLMs in production to personalize or rank what users see, and using experimentation and measurement to prove impact.
- Have experience managing and growing senior and staff engineers and enabling them to own initiatives end to end.
- Demonstrate communication and influence with technical and non-technical partners, including aligning teams and organizations on shared standards and a common platform approach.
- Have a track record of fostering a culture of Diversity and Belonging.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive long-term technical strategy and architecture with senior leaders.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science leaders to set platform strategy for ranking, personalization, and measurement.
- Lead the team in building reliable, performant, and scalable systems for insight creation, personalization, cross-channel delivery, and measurement.
- Provide input on the team roadmap and technical direction.
- Influence stakeholders and collaborate with them to adopt team goals and roadmaps.
- Identify areas for improvement and drive best practices.
- Contribute hands-on through design and code reviews.
- Mentor, guide, and support the career growth of individual contributors.
