Requirements
- Demonstrate strong C++ skills.
- Be able to design, implement, debug, profile, and maintain production-quality systems in a large codebase.
- Have experience architecting and evolving large-scale gameplay systems, frameworks, or shared gameplay infrastructure beyond individual gameplay features.
- Have deep experience profiling and optimizing real-time games.
- Be able to identify, investigate, and resolve CPU, memory, networking, and other systemic performance bottlenecks.
- Have experience developing with Unreal Engine.
- Have strong communication and collaboration skills, including explaining complex technical topics and influencing technical decisions across disciplines.
- Experience developing and shipping multiplayer games, particularly games with complex gameplay simulation and networking requirements, is a nice to have.
- Experience developing and optimizing games across PC and console platforms is a nice to have.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain production-quality foundational gameplay systems, frameworks, workflows, and tools in C++ on Unreal Engine 5.
- Provide technical direction for shared gameplay systems and work with engineers and content creators to evolve architecture, identify risks, and ensure systems scale with the simulation and networking model.
- Profile the game, identify systemic bottlenecks and performance risks, set priorities, and implement optimizations in the codebase.
- Establish performance practices, metrics, budgets, profiling workflows, and tools so engineers and content creators can understand and optimize runtime costs.
